Original Wisdom is a Limited Liability Corporation owned by Kersey Lawrence, an award winning teacher at UCONN. Kersey earned her Ph.D. studying trackers at the same institution in 2020, and is a qualified African Field Guide, Professional Trail’s Guide, and one of the highest qualified trackers in the world in the CyberTracker system. She has practiced and taught tracking, naturalist skills, nature connection and bushcraft skills to people of all ages for over 25 years.

Original Wisdom runs many of our programs in Africa through our trusted provider-on-the-ground, Nature Guide Training, owned by renowned African field guide trainer, Lee Gutteridge. Lee is the highest qualified guide in Southern Africa on the FGASA system, a Scout Guide, a Senior Tracker, and a wildlife author of 9 books to-date (2021).

Kersey and Lee are a couple, and in 2020 co-authored The Tracker Mentoring Manual – Introduction to Tracking, and launched a website, Tracker Mentoring, with mentored online courses designed to teach the art and science of tracking to people all over the world, from novice to expert, in the city or in the wild.
